Right To Information (RTI)
The Right To Information Act (RTI) 2005 was passed by the Parliament on 15th June 2005. The Act mandates that organizations defined as “Public Authorities” are obliged to provide information to the public and create necessary arrangements in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority. We have been declared as a “Public Authority” under the Act.
The Right to Information Act, 2005 (22 of 2005) provides citizens access to information under the control of public authorities. All Universities and Colleges established by law, or owned/substantially financed by the Government, fall under “Public Authority”. Some provisions came into effect immediately, while others came into effect after 100-120 days. Public Information Officers (PIO) have been designated to perform duties as envisaged under the act. Necessary information is made available proactively via the website www.masc.co.in.
